The index as temperature, three treatments

The Blind Spot Index runs 0 to 100 and higher is always better. The open question is which end should feel hot. Flip the toggle and watch: the number does not move and the needle does not move, only the emotional reading changes. Test both with the team and tell us which one WI wants to own.

Blind Spot Index 61 / 100

A · The barometer

gauge, reads as an instrument

Strong single-brand hero. Weak for comparing two brands side by side.

B · The thermometer

vertical fill, reads as temperature

Most literal take on the metaphor. Tall, costs vertical space on a slide.

C · The heat band

horizontal strip, reads as a spectrum
020406080100

Compact; stacks well for multi-audience or brand-vs-comparison views. The likely deck workhorse.

The question underneath. Hot as strength reads as energy and cultural heat, and a high score is something a brand wants to claim. Hot as risk reads as urgency, and a low score demands attention. Both are defensible and both are one line of display configuration, so nothing here is irreversible. What matters is picking one and using it everywhere, because the metaphor has to agree with the archetype names and the report language.
